Best of ME

Introduction
Few days back I was reading a book and I came across a sentence which read ‘the caterpillars that I missed to kill have been these butterflies.’ And this sentence took me back a few days back where my companion commented on a beautiful purple butterfly which happened to pass by us. He said ‘See this wonderful creature so beautiful but it will last for a few days’. It was so nice to see the beautiful purple butterfly pass by us.  The beauty which the little butterfly added to the nature was marvellous, if not for the other but at least to me. This phenomenon of observing a butterfly doesn’t happen much often to me but it was that day I just happen to see it. Among all the beauty, freedom and majesty this butterfly flattered its wings, showed life which radiated such joy that I felt happy. This is how life is. Life spreads so much joy to others.

Life is meaningless without the other
All humans are made in the image and likeness of God and all the others are a gift to us which God has given to us who help us live a better life. But here is a controversy Jean Paul Sartre an existential philosopher says “The other is my Hell”. (Those who have siblings will better understand this) what he meant by it is, people judge each other, which in turn deprives them of freedom. Let me simplify it, Humans are naturally good. Its only human’s actions that make them bad. Humans extend themselves in human relationships. It’s in these relationships we learn to live our life. Human experiences comprises of ups and downs in one’s life. Sadness in my life has taught me that all of life is not a bed of roses and from sadness comes happiness. If I didn’t know what sadness meant than I would have not known what happiness meant.

Purpose of life
Each one needs to find their purpose in life. I don’t think I'm simply alive in this world. Just as people come in my life to make a difference and to add meaning to my life I too am in this world to participate in the lives of different people. They say everything happens for a reason and so I think that I'm born for a reason. Many have asked me this question ‘What’s the purpose of my life.’ Once when someone had asked me this question I answered saying ‘Take life as it comes and live it happily each day (mind you this is not universal truth). The answer that I gave was a generic answer but a purpose to one’s life is intrinsic to oneself.

Be Positive
Thinking positive is difficult especially in times of difficult situation, but if we make a conscious effort and work our problems systematically and not instinctually, we may be successful. It’s difficult but we got to try. Once you start thinking positively you will see that even your surrounding will slowly change and you’ll be happy. Being positive means not being too cool about things saying that all will become good by itself and saying that I’ve a positive attitude and thus all things will turn out good even without my efforts. Positive thinking plus your own efforts will help you grow. You don’t have much control over life so live each day as if it’s your last and live it well.

Opportunities comes with risks, hence take life as it comes you don’t have much control over it
In life, one gets many opportunities it all depends on the person whether to grab it or not. Opportunities involve risks. It’s not easy. It’s better to have loved and lost than to have not loved at all. This sentence is an example of taking risks. By taking risks one may make mistakes but there’s also the learning experience which counts. We admire people who dare to do something different in life and probably we would say to our self. I wish I too could have done it. In life if we don’t put our whole hearted effort we aren’t going to reach anywhere. Dare to take risks its worth taking them.

Let go and let live
When young, we used to drink with the help of feeder bottle and then slowly we start drinking from a cup and then finally we let go off the feeder. If there wasn’t any effort to make this change it would be difficult. We all grow though it. From childhood till now this process of let go and let live still continues. One may feel bad to let go off some things but one has also to realize that there also something more good waiting ahead. Be the change you want to see. No one can change you until and unless you decide to.

Conclusion.

I would like to end this topic by the words of Socrates who said ‘An unexamined life is not worth living.’ We need to examine our life from time to time, in turn realizing where we stand and the need for change. This life is a gift to us and it’s the best I would say. It’s only a one time offer; we will never ever live this life again. So make the best of it. So that one day you can say I am one of a kind and the BEST OF ME
